Distinguishing features : missing leg, scarred from many battles with Dark Wizards, magical eye (see above), large chunk missing from his nose from battle with the Death Eater Rosier.

AGE : older (perhaps Arthur Weasley's age?).

FIELD : Auror (retired), Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher 1994-1995.

DEVICES : magical blue eye, 2 invisibility cloaks (one loaned to Sturgis Podmore and not returned), a magical trunk, a foe glass (now broken and in the Room of Requirement), a Sneakoscope, and a Secrecy Sensor. At various times he had access to the Marauder's Map and Dumbledore's Put-Outer.



PROFILE
Retired Auror, considered one of the best Dark Wizard catchers the Ministry has ever had. Moody came on staff for a year at Hogwarts, but spent it at the bottom of a magical trunk, unbeknownst to anyone but the imposter who put him there . Moody is a member of the Order of the Phoenix.

Mad-Eye is noted for his paranoia, particularly in regard to food and drink, but also wand safety; this last may be related to his own missing leg , but that is mere speculation. Moody takes command of any operation he’s associated with. He’s brusque and efficient and anticipates the moves of the Death Eaters.

He organized the rescue of Harry Potter from Privet Drive for the last time at the end of July, 1997, but was killed in the ensuing battle . His body was never recovered. However, Harry Potter later discovered his magical eye affixed to Dolores Umbridge’s office door and took it. He buried the eye under a tree in a nameless forest . Moody’s favorite expression was “Constant vigilance!”

Dobby " a Free Elf "

Dobby is a house-elf, who, unlike most other house-elves, wanted to be freed. He has three fingers and one opposable thumb. Dobby was the abused and tormented slave of the Malfoys before the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Against his masters' wishes, he had a respect and admiration for Harry Potter. In his first appearance in the series in Chamber of Secrets, Dobby knew of Lucius Malfoy's plans to re-open the Chamber of Secrets using Tom Riddle's school diary for months before it happened.

As an attempt to discourage Harry from returning to Hogwarts, Dobby began to intercept the letters that Harry's friends sent him. Dobby then appeared at Privet Drive to warn Harry and tell him of the danger of returning to Hogwarts, and attempted to persuade him to stay away so he would be safe from harm. For warning Harry, he had to punish himself most severely. When Dobby's attempts failed to persuade Harry, he smashed a pudding in the Dursley's kitchen. Being caught in the kitchen with the wreckage, and receiving a warning letter for illegal use of magic, Harry was locked up by the Dursleys, who insisted that he would not return to Hogwarts, but Ron, Fred and George Weasley were able to rescue Harry in their father's flying Ford Anglia. Dobby later tried to keep Harry away from Hogwarts by magically sealing off the hidden entrance to Platform 9¾, but Harry and Ron foiled that plot by piloting the flying car back to their school, a feat that nearly got them expelled. During a later Quidditch match of Gryffindor vs. Slytherin, Dobby also enchanted a Bludger to chase after only Harry; it managed to break his arm. Gilderoy Lockhart's attempt to heal it resulted instead in the disintegration of all the bones in his arm. When Harry – having just returned from the Chamber of Secrets – discovered that Dobby's master was Lucius Malfoy, Harry tricked Malfoy into setting Dobby free – a feat that secured him the house-elf's undying loyalty. Harry then asked Dobby one favour: never to try to save his life again.

Dobby reappears in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He thereafter demanded to be paid for his services and he found it difficult to find any employment at all. Nevertheless, he later obtained a post at Hogwarts, and is the only paid house-elf on the staff. Albus Dumbledore also said that, far from having to treat him with reverence and fear, as most house-elves did their masters, Dobby was free to call him a "barmy old codger" if he liked. He declined this as well, having developed great love for the headmaster. In this book, Dobby gives Harry the gillyweed he needs to survive the Second Triwizard Task. Dobby was also the only house-elf who cleaned Gryffindor Tower since Hermione Granger began trying to set the house-elves free, to further her S.P.E.W, because the house-elves found the clothes insulting. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when Dobby woke Harry from a disturbing dream, he asked Harry if he needed help; he showed Harry the hidden Room of Requirement, which Harry used for his Dumbledore's Army meetings. When Professor Umbridge found out about the meetings later, Dobby enters the room to warn the group to leave.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Harry entrusts Dobby to help watch Kreacher when he ordered him to work in the Hogwarts kitchens with the other house-elves. When Harry needed somebody to follow Draco Malfoy, he was helped by Kreacher and Dobby. Because of Kreacher's hatred of Harry and his friends, he and Dobby do not get along at all. When Harry summons Kreacher to help him tail Malfoy, Kreacher appears in the middle of a fight with Dobby (apparently over something rude that Kreacher said about Harry). While Kreacher mentions that he will follow Malfoy only because he must, Dobby agrees to do so because he wants to help Harry. When they report back, Kreacher tells Harry only mundane things, such as Malfoy's class schedule, while Dobby cuts to the chase and tells Harry about Malfoy's visits to the Room of Requirement.

Dobby makes his last appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Aberforth Dumbledore sends Dobby to rescue Harry, Ron, and Hermione from Lucius' basement (despite the promise Dobby had made never to try to save Harry's life again). Dobby helps Harry and Ron escape their prison and gets Luna Lovegood, Dean Thomas, and Mr Ollivander out of Malfoy Manor, then helps Harry and Ron free Hermione and Griphook from torture at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange. While he succeeds in his task, Bellatrix throws a knife at Harry, but the knife hits Dobby instead, who dies before he can be healed (this makes Dobby one of very few characters killed in the books whose death is not the direct result of a spell). Dobby's last words were "Harry Potter". Harry physically digs the grave without using magic and Dobby's body is buried in Bill and Fleur's garden at Shell Cottage, adorned with various pieces of the mourners' clothing symbolizing Dobby's freedom from elfish servitude even in death. Using Draco's captured wand, Harry writes upon the stone, "Here Lies Dobby, A Free Elf".

FRED WEASLEY

BIRTH NAME : Fred Weasley.

BORN : April 1st , 1978.

DEATH : Fred died on May 2, 1998 during the Battle of Hogwarts .

ANCESTRY : Pure-blood.

MOTHER : Molly (Prewett) Weasley.

FATHER : Arthur Weasley, Head of Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, Ministry of Magic.

MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS : Molly and Sirius are "cousins by marriage," so Molly's parents are probably related in some way to the Prewetts listed on the Black Family Tree .

PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS : Septimus and Cedrella Weasley .



PROFILE

Mischief managed! The Weasley twins Are the staunch enemies of pretension, authority, and pessimism. Their weapons? A pointed, wicked sense of humor and inventive, original charmwork coupled with a good business sense. Like Peeves and Dumbledore, the twins show how handy disruption and laughter can be when you are fighting tyranny and hatred. Fred and George are sons of Arthur and Molly Weasley, falling between Percy (who is two years older) and Ron (who is two years younger). They entered Hogwarts in September 1989, and were sorted into Gryffindor.

Fred and George are very similar in personality. The two find themselves at odds with their mother quite frequently, partly because she doesn't think they take things like school work seriously enough and partly because they just enjoy pestering and teasing her. They greatly enjoy badgering their older brother Percy as well, whose personality is completely opposite from theirs. They like to be the life of the party and the center of attention. Adventurous boys who push the limits, they spend a lot of time exploring areas of Hogwarts castle and grounds that students aren't supposed to enter. The twins have a special knack for finding secret passages; they found one their first week at Hogwarts, behind a statue of Gregory the Smarmy on the second floor.

Their frequent escapades and shenanigans get them into plenty of trouble. Argus Filch has an entire file drawer devoted to the rule-breaking of Fred and George, and Hagrid says he's spent half his life chasing the twins out of the Forbidden Forest. When the Goblet of Fire was charmed with an Age Line so that no one under the age of 17 could enter the Triwizard Tournament, Fred and George took an Aging Potion to try to fool it. The attempt failed, and they were left with long white beards for their trouble. They tend to be disrespectful to teachers in general, even going so far as to throw snowballs at Quirrell's turban.

Early in their career at Hogwarts, Fred and George were in trouble as usual and were in Filch's office when they noticed a drawer marked "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous." That was all the incentive they needed. They grabbed the first thing they could from the drawer and in that way discovered a most unusual map of Hogwarts. It was the Marauder's Map and they considered it to be the secret of their success over the years. In 1993, they gave the map to Harry Potter, saying that they didn't need it anymore.

REMUS J.LUPIN

OTHER NAME : 'Moony,' referring to full moon’s effect on him. Peeves calls him 'Loony loopy Lupin' . On "Potterwatch" Remus's code name is "Romulus."

DIED : May 2, 1998, killed by Dolohov at the Battle of Hogwarts.

ANCESTRY : Half-blood (one Muggle parent or grandparent)

CHILDHOOD: "Was a very small boy" when bitten by a werewolf named Fenrir Greyback ; transforms at each full moon.

SPOUSE : Married Nymphadora Tonks during the summer of 1997, before the end of July . Initially Remus was convinced that he was too old, dangerous and poor for her .

CHILD : Ted, named for his grandfather Ted Tonks, recently murdered by Death Eaters .


PROFILE
Harry, Hermione and Ron saw Professor Remus J. Lupin for the first time on the Hogwarts Express, wearing extremely shabby wizard's robes. Lupin has light brown hair flecked with gray, though he is quite young. He looked ill and exhausted; Ron observed, "He looks like one good hex would finish him off." But Lupin is a capable wizard. He drove one of the dementors of Azkaban from the compartment and earned Madam Pomfrey's approval for having given the students chocolate to help them recover from the shock .

Professor Lupin's classes gave the students their first true experience with Defense Against the Dark Arts and Dark Creatures. His teaching style, building confidence with knowledge with kindness and humor, made his classes the most popular (PA7). To assist Harry with the dementors, Remus Lupin taught him the Patronus Charm, working with Harry one-on-one to help him develop the skills necessary to use this difficult spell .He spent time with Harry, becoming a mentor and a friend. Perceptive and even-tempered, Lupin deflected Snape's hatred and gave poor Neville Longbottom his first moment of glory when facing the Boggar.

The truth of Professor Lupin's illness continued to elude all except Hermione, who, after Lupin disrupted the confrontation between Harry and Sirius Black in the Shrieking Shack, exposed Lupin as a werewolf . Thoughtful and introspective, Lupin revealed some of his own difficult life and the history of the group of friends which included James Potter and Sirius Black, and of the Marauder's Map. James called Lupin's affliction his "furry little problem."

Harry learned that Professor Lupin is "Moony", one of the creators of the Marauder's Map. To prove the truth of their story, Remus and Sirius forced Peter Pettigrew (Scabbers) to return to human form and the sad story of Pettigrew's betrayal of Lily and James Potter unfolded . But racing to the rescue, when the map showed Sirius Black dragging Ron and Peter into the Whomping Willow with Hermione and Harry in pursuit, Remus had forgotten the Wolfsbane Potion, so that when he later transformed he was subject to uncontrolled dementia. Pettigrew escaped into the woods and Harry used the Patronus Charm to save Sirius, Hermione and himself from the dementors . Concerned for the safety of the students, Remus Lupin resigned and left Hogwarts.

Since Lupin left Hogwarts he hasn't appeared to have steady work; however during the fall and winter of 1996 he was working for the Order of the Phoenix, trying to infiltrate the normally secretive community of werewolves, led by Fenrir Greyback, the werewolf that bit Remus as a small child .

As they spend time together working for the Order, Lupin and Tonks begin to develop a romantic relationship. Lupin resists, worried that he would be condemning her to a life as an outcast. When Bill Weasley is disfigured during the Battle of the Tower, but Fleur fiercely proclaims that it doesn’t matter, Tonks confronts Lupin and tells him that Lupin’s condition shouldn’t matter for them either. He eventually relents, and he and Tonks are married in the summer of 1997 in a private ceremony .

Even after they are married, Lupin struggles with the consequences of the decision. Tonks becomes pregnant, making the situation even more difficult for him, worrying that the baby will be a werewolf too. Finally, Lupin meets Harry, Ron, and Hermione at Grimmauld Place and offers to come with them. Harry tells him off, calling him a coward for abandoning his family, and Lupin storms out. In the end, Lupin stays with Tonks. He joins Lee Jordan and others in broadcasting the Potterwatch radio show to spread the truth about what’s going on; Lupin’s code name is Romulus . When his son is born, Lupin celebrates with the rest of the Order members at Shell Cottage .

In the final climactic Battle of Hogwarts, Lupin joins the fray, leaving Tonks and baby Ted with her mother. Tonks can’t stand to be far from the action, however, so she also arrives at Hogwarts soon after. As the battle rages, Lupin is killed by Dolohov and Tonks is killed by Bellatrix . Teddy is raised by his grandmother Andromeda and by his godfather Harry Potter, who knows well what it is like to be orphaned.

Nymphadora Tonks

PROFILE
Tonks is a pretty young woman with a heart-shaped face. Her hair changes color, but is often bubble-gum pink. Her father calls her ‘Dora.’

Nymphadora, or 'Tonks,' as she prefers to be called by friends, is an Auror and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She was not part of the original Order of the Phoenix as she was too young. Tonks was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry in his escape from the Dursley house; she carried his trunk slung under her broom. .

Tonks is the daughter of Sirius Black's favorite cousin, Andromeda, who married a Muggle-born wizard, Ted Tonks. Andromeda was removed from the tapestry of the Black family tree as a result of her marriage (so Kreacher does not feel the need to obey her even though she is family) . That means that Tonks' aunts are Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange, whether any of them wants to admit it or not.

While at Hogwarts, Tonks was not made a Prefect . She said that it was because she lacked certain "necessary qualities," specifically the ability to behave herself. However, she must have been a very capable student in spite of her fondness for mischief, since becoming an Auror requires high marks in many subjects. After leaving Hogwarts in the summer of 1991, Tonks had to undergo an additional three years of training to become an Auror, only qualifying in the summer of 1994.

Tonks is a Metamorphmagus, which means that she can change her appearance at will. She uses this ability in service to the Order, but it also helped her qualify as an Auror ("I got top marks in Concealment and Disguise during Auror training without any study at all, it was great."). However, she is very clumsy and she had more difficulty with Stealth and Tracking.

During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, Tonks fired spells down on the Death Eaters in the Death Room, but was hit by a spell and injured severely. She recovered from her wounds after a stay in St. Mungo's. She was sufficiently healed to join Mad-Eye and Lupin on the platform in King's Cross as they met Harry from the train.

However, a few months later when Harry meets her at the Burrow, it is clear that Tonks is extremely unhappy. She has let her hair go a mousy brown, and looks "drawn, even ill." . Harry at first supposes that she is distraught over Sirius' death but finds out later that she has fallen in love with Remus Lupin.

During Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, Tonks was stationed there along with Aurors Proudfoot, Savage, and Dawlish to guard the school. She fought in the Battle of the Tower.

During the summer of 1997, Lupin and Tonks were married. He regretted this afterwards because he feared what association with him would do to his wife and her family. When Tonks became pregnant that fall, he was terrified that he had brought doom on Tonks and the unborn child and considered leaving her in the care of her parents. He didn’t leave, and the baby was born healthy some months later. They named him Teddy after her father.

During the Battle of Hogwarts, Tonks followed Lupin to join the battle. Both she and her husband were killed, Tonks struck down by her aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange. Teddy was raised by his grandmother, Andromeda Tonks
